PIZZA PARTY - Intro to Photoshop Tools and Play
We will be focusing on learning how to use layers, resize, and rotate images for a future assignment.
You will also practice cutting/ selecting images using three tools: 1) Elliptical Marquee 2) Magic Wand 3) Magnetic Lasso
Open pizza file and unlock it - bottom right
to take one topping select it Edit> Copy
Create new layer and paste to new layer Edit> Paste
Select move tool and drag to move
To resize select layer you want Edit> Transform> Scale and then drag corner to adjust
To rotate do the same but > Rotate
To rearrange layers click on the layer you want and drag it to the top of the list
*to deselect anything you don't want selected press marquee tool and click on selected item
*whatever is at the top of the list is the top layerElliptical Marquee tool: to cut out or crop an image or rearrange chunks of layers.
to move the cut out select move tool and drag
they are still on the same layer BUT if you want to put it on a new layer, go Edit> Cut>
*make a new layer by clicking square with plus sign on button right layers toolbar*>
Edit paste and it will be its own new layer -- rename for clarify
Magic Wand tool:
Selects areas that look the same
drag wand over item until it selects what you want Edit> Copy
Go to original pizza - select move tool and click then and create new layer on bottom and name it then Edit> Paste
Magnetic Lasso: to cut things out
you can roughly trace the image and It will glue to the edge to cut it out
must “close” the path of the lasso
then select move tool to drag shape
Edit> Copy and Edit> Paste on new layer
To take images from the internet for crazy pizza:
Download the image you want onto desktop and open in PS
Use lasso or magic wand to cut out and paste

- Headshots: 5 shots cropped shoulder to shoulder and down to top of head
- Scavenger Hunt: 10 shots make sure they are edited and labeled
- Photoshop: turn one photo to black and white, put a head onto a new background
- Color Assignment: 10 shots of different items, one color
- Step Downs: 5 different shots, shot on phone, edited.
- Angle shots: 5 worm's view, 5 top down
- Macro/Close-ups: 15 in slideshow
EXPERIENCED students- Scavenger Hunt 10 shots make sure they are edited and labeled
- Bobblehead: a variety of people minimum three photoshopped into one background, make the heads larger
- Color Assignment: 10 shots of different items, one color
- Step Downs: 5 different shots, shot on phone
- Angle shots: 5 worm's view, 5 top down
- Macro/Close-ups: 15 in slideshow
